Regulations

  • October 28, 2023, to December 9, 2023, is the harvesting period with antlers at least 3 inches long; antlerless may be taken from authorized WMDs.
  • The antlered buck bag limit in the state is one per day and three per yearly season; one of these three may possess unique qualities.
  • On resident-only days throughout the state, non-residents who own 25 acres or more of open hunting property, possess a valid license, and are not otherwise forbidden by law, are permitted to go deer hunt.
  • A verification form, must be filled out by hunters.
  • With an exception for a buck with unique traits, the daily and yearly bag limits for antlered buck remain at one and three, respectively.
  • On approved state, federal, and private areas, either sex game is permitted from November 18 to February 15.
  • On private property, either sexes may be hunted from November 18 to December 1, but on public area, only lawful bucks may be shot.
  • On both private and public lands, either sex pursuit is permitted from December 2 to December 15. On private property, anyone may use whatever weapon they like as long as they have the proper license.
  • On private property, any gender is allowed to be taken from December 16 to December 23, but on public land, only legal bucks are allowed.
  • On open public property, only lawful bucks are permitted from December 24, 2024, to January 1, 2024.
  • The archery game is from September 15 to September 17, and only lawful bucks may be harvested. During this time, the kill is restricted to private property, and certain licenses, reporting obligations, and CWD sample are necessary.
